Fall festival fun this October
Ohhhh, October! How we love you! In The Natural State, October means cooler temperatures, fall color, and great festival fun.
In McGehee, it’s the 11th annual Owlfest on Oct. 6-7. The citywide festival features free entertainment the entire weekend, plus events like a 5K run/walk, street dances, the Owl Hoot contest, a petting zoo, a motorcycle show, a talent show, kids’ activities and arts and crafts. The 35th annual Wild Duck Festival, Poinsett County’s largest community festival, takes place in Trumann on Oct. 13-14. The festival features duck calling contests, a carnival midway, a pickle eating contest, a parade, a carnival midway with vendor booths, and an outdoor stage with live music. Blytheville has the 37th annual Blytheville Chili Cook-off and Harvest Festival slated for Oct. 13-14. The event kicks off Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. with food trucks, a beer tent and live music featuring the Peter Moon Band. It’s the 11th annual Crawfordsville Harvest Festival on Oct. 14 in Crawfordsville. The award-winning festival features food and craft vendors, a kids’ parade, live music, a bake-off competition, a kids’ play area and a car show.
